Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrival in Arusha

Welcome to Tanzania. As your plane touches down at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you’ll be met by your Serengeti Lion Safaris driver with a big smile and a name card that feels oddly reassuring. Immediately after your pickup, you shall be meet, greeted and then driven to Arusha through foothills that hint at the adventure ahead. The air smells like eucalyptus and fresh earth. Your lodge offers a warm meal and your first African sunset as you have most of the evening for relaxation.

Day 2: Tarangire National Park: Elephant Trails & Baobab experience

Today, your adventure begins. After your early morning breakfast, you shall get ready and set off to Tarangire, a quiet but stunning park that doesn’t scream for attention but rewards those who show up. Watchout for giant Baobab trees that stand like stone giants. Elephants move in slow herds across golden grass. Giraffes stretch their necks toward the sky like they’re part of the landscape.

Tarangire is dry, beautiful, and full of wildlife. You’ll stop by the river, where everything gathers—zebra, wildebeest, even lions, if they’re feeling social. The feeling here is raw and open. It’s the kind of place you didn’t know you needed.

Accommodation:
Camping: Zion Campsite
Budget: Tarangire Safari Lodge (Budget Rooms)
Standard: Sangaiwe Tented Lodge
Luxury: Tarangire Sopa Lodge

Day 3: Ngorongoro Highlands: Cultures & Crater Views

Today’s a blend of culture and geology. You’ll head up toward the Ngorongoro highlands and along the way, you’ll meet the Maasai dressed in their red shukas, learn more about their culture, mode of life and more. Their cattle dot the hills like slow-moving brushstrokes. You’ll visit a local boma, ask questions, laugh with the kids, and come away with more than a photo.

By afternoon, you’ll settle into a lodge with views of the Ngorongoro Crater rim. The air is cooler, cleaner and natural. You sip tea with a blanket around your shoulders and stare into a volcanic masterpiece.

Accommodation:
Camping: Simba A Campsite
Budget: Rhino Lodge
Standard: Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge
Luxury: Ngorongoro Crater Lodge

Day 4: Lake Natron: Flamingos & Fiery Skies

Most people skip Natron. You won’t. And that makes all the difference.

You drive northeast through dusty, rugged terrain. The landscape shifts—less green, more lava rock and silence. Then it appears: Lake Natron. Flamingos blanket the water like pink confetti. Ol Doinyo Lengai, the sacred volcano, looms nearby like a sleeping god.

You’ll take a short hike to a waterfall in a narrow gorge—yes, there’s water here, and it’s magic. The sun sets red against the salt flats. Your camp is basic but positioned perfectly. Tonight, the stars belong to you.

Accommodation:
Camping: Kamakia Campsite
Budget: Lake Natron Tented Camp
Standard: Maasai Giraffe Eco Lodge
Luxury: Lake Natron Camp

Day 5 – Lake Natron to Serengeti: Enter the Wild

This is the road less travelled and yes, you can expect the unbelievable here. You take the back route into the Serengeti through the Klein’s Gate, avoiding the crowds and easing into the raw side of the park. It’s bumpy, it’s beautiful, and it feels like a secret.

By afternoon, you’re deep in the Serengeti. The grass whispers. The air is hot and still. Then, movement everywhere in silence. You will sightsee many Wildebeests, lions, leopards, giraffes, cheetahs, hyenas and more. It doesn’t take long to remember why this place is called legendary but, later in the evening, you shall have to retreat form this exciting adventure and proceed for the day’s relaxation, overnight and dinner.

Accommodation:
Camping: Lobo Campsite
Budget: Into Wild Africa (North Camp)
Standard: Serengeti Heritage Tented Camp (North)
Luxury: Sayari Camp

Day 6: Serengeti National Park: Big Cats & Big Skies

Today, you shall spend today hunting the shadows and stories across the Serengeti as you look for the Gig 5 and wildebeests. Your guide reads tracks in the dust like a novel. You watch lions yawn beside their kill, or cheetahs stalk a distracted gazelle.

Every hour brings a new chapter and today, we head to a different part of Serengeti to experience elephants trumpeting, giraffes crossing the plains, vultures swirling above. You stop for lunch beneath a lone tree, open the cooler, and realize food tastes better when you’re eating with antelope nearby.

The day ends as it should—with your head full of wonder and your shoes full of dust.

Accommodation:
Camping: Seronera Campsite
Budget: Into Wild Africa (Central)
Standard: Serengeti Heritage Tented Camp (Central)
Luxury: Kubu Kubu Tented Lodge

Day 7 – Serengeti to Karatu: Through the Crater

This is our last sunrise game drive in the Serengeti—because you won’t want to leave without saying goodbye to the endless plains of Serengeti.

Watchout for all the animals you didn’t see yesterday. After that, you head back south toward Ngorongoro and descend into the Crater itself. This is a lost world. An intact ecosystem locked inside a collapsed volcano. Lions are easy to spot here. Hyenas roam freely. If the rhinos are feeling generous, you’ll catch a glimpse of them too.

By late afternoon, you start ascending back up and drive down to Karatu—a small farming town with green hills, coffee farms, and a lovely lodge where you can breathe deep and sleep soundly.

Accommodation:
Camping: Panorama Campsite
Budget: Eileen’s Tree Inn
Standard: Country Lodge Karatu
Luxury: The Retreat at Ngorongoro

Day 8 – Return to Arusha via Mto wa Mbu

On your last day, you stop in Mto wa Mbu for a cultural walk and a slow-paced goodbye to the people of this land. You’ll visit banana farms, taste local brews, and maybe learn how to carve a tiny giraffe from wood. It’s a soft ending to a wild week.

Then, you finally embark on your return drive back to Arusha, tired but deeply full. Of stories. Of dust. Of something inside you that wasn’t there before.
