2 Days Serengeti & Ngorongoro Crater Safari
Overview
Let’s say you’ve only got two days. Two days to get your boots dusty in the Serengeti. Two days to lock eyes with a lion. Two days to feel like you’ve stepped off your flight from JFK and into a BBC wildlife documentary.
This 2-day Serengeti & Ngorongoro Crater Safari is designed for travellers like you, the ones short on time but still need to explore the beautiful Serengeti and Ngorongoro.
Whether you’re a Wall Street exec escaping the city or a first-time globetrotter on your first real adventure, Serengeti Lion Safaris delivers the kind of soul-stirring experience that makes your passport feel heavier on the flight home.
Your 2 Days Serengeti & Ngorongoro crater safari can start from Arusha or directly from Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), fly or drive into the legendary Serengeti, and end with a sunrise descent into the Ngorongoro Crater—nature’s coliseum where lions, rhinos, and ancient volcanic walls whisper stories older than your great-grandfather’s.
This is a 48-hour love letter to Africa that presents unforgettable moments in only 48 hours. Let’s get into it and enjoy the very best Tanzania has for you in just 48 hours.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1 – Arusha/JRO to Serengeti: Touch Down in the Wild
So here you are. Maybe you woke up in a quiet hotel in Arusha, maybe you’ve just landed at JRO blinking at the African sun. Either way, we’ve got you covered. Your Serengeti Lion Safaris guide who is friendly, seasoned, and surprisingly good at spotting a cheetah in tall grass. He will welcome you with a handshake and that smile Tanzanians are famous for.
By late morning, you’re airborne or on the road, heading toward the plains of legend.
If you fly, you’re soaring over the rift valley, with scattered clouds casting shadows over elephant trails. If you drive, you’re rolling through Maasai villages and volcanic landscapes that slowly peel back into golden savannah.
By afternoon, you arrive in the Serengeti ans as soon as you arrive, you are overtaken by the beauty, the size, the silence and the endless plains. You didn’t realize you’d been holding your breath until now.
Your first game drive? It’s not staged and yes, there’s no pre-recorded background music. But somehow, when that leopard uncoils from a tree limb and stretches in the late afternoon light, it feels cinematic. You cruise past elephant herds, towers of giraffe, and if you are lucky, you will sight a pride of lions lounging like royalty in the grass.
As the sun dips low, your lodge or camp (depending on your style—comfy lodge or canvas luxury?) welcomes you with warm towels and warmer food.
You later have your dinner under stars you’ve never seen before. The fire crackles. A hyena laughs somewhere in the dark. And you, tired but lit up, realize this isn’t just Africa. This is your Africa now.
Day 2 – Ngorongoro Crater: Sunrise in Eden, Farewell from the Rim
Wake up early morning and bid farewell to Serengeti as you make your way toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The road winds higher, cooler, greener. And just when you think nothing could top yesterday… the Earth opens up.
You reach the crater rim in the early morning and your adventure begins. A massive, ancient caldera cradling a self-contained world below. Mist coils along the edge like breath. And you descend.
The game drive in the crater is almost unfair. Within minutes, you might see elephants trudging through the marsh, flamingos dancing across a soda lake, or even a black rhino grazing quietly in the distance. Lions here walk like they own the place—because they do. Hyenas lope past your vehicle with grins that feel personal. Buffalo eyeball you like bouncers at a club.
Every corner turns into a story. And your guide, still somehow full of energy, unpacks facts, legends, and jokes in a mix of Swahili and smooth English.
Midday comes. You picnic by a hippo pool, where lunch is casual, and the guests—grunting, burbling hippos—are anything but.
Eventually, reluctantly, you climb the crater wall once more. One last glance. Then back to Arusha, or straight to the airport, depending on your schedule.
But here’s the thing—you’ll never see the world the same way again. Serengeti Lion Safaris gave you two days of real Africa. And something in you… shifted.
